Job Summary:

This is skilled maintenance and repair work in one or more trades areas. Work is performed with considerable independence under general supervision of Facilities Maintenance Supervisor.

Technical

  • Performs general trades responsibilities (specific trade responsibilities listed below)
  • Performs the repair of cabinets, desks, tables, and other office furniture
  • Builds forms and performs other carpentry jobs
  • Carries lumber and other materials and supplies as directed
  • Performs trades tasks at the journeyman level
  • Files saws, sharpens other tools and keeps equipment in proper working order
  • Troubleshoots and analyzes mechanical problems
  • May operate various construction equipment
  • Helps plan, orders materials, and calculates job needs
  • Reads and performs quantity take-off of construction plans and City construction standards to implement in the field as part of the construction project
  • Coordinates materials needed for construction projects

Performs related work as required.

EMERGENCY RESPONSE STATUS: As a condition of employment, City of Largo employees will be required to work as directed during an undeclared and/or a declared emergency. All employees are subject to recall around the clock for emergency response operations, which may require irregular work hours, work at locations other than the normal work location, and may include duties other than those specified in the official job description.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or general education diploma (GED)
  • Three (3) to five (5) years of experience in the skilled trades, such as building maintenance and repair work, basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Trade certifications, trade/contractor licensing, EPA certification, Erosion Control certifications, or Stormwater certifications may be required or preferred depending on specific assignment
  • Valid Driver's License
